Do you still believe in “The One”?

November 18, 2008

I certainly hope not. Not that I don’t believe in love or anything – I’m a huge fan of love. But fantasy ideas of finding “the one” or a “prince charming” can be reckless for your children and your self. Actually, it could save us all a lot of heartache if we entered relationships with [...]

Can he commit? Check his cab light.

August 6, 2008

My friend has fallen. Totally and completely. Off the deep end. In love. And the man… he’s falling too. They’re both young. Their lives are together. Everything is ripe for – BIG BREATHLESS PAUSE – marriage. (Yes, I said that scary “M” word) One huge reason for this – both of their cab lights are on. They’ve both finally decided, in their own time, that it’s time to settle down.

What do you think about the Sex and the City cab light theory? Is timing really everything? For my friend it is and I couldn’t be happier for her! They really, truly adore each other and I so want it to work out.

What is a cab light you ask?

A cab light (I’m stealing this from Sex and the City) is when someone, namely a man, is ready to get married. When a man’s cab light is on it means he’s ready for a long-term fare or committed relationship.

Fall at your own risk.

July 28, 2008

Just a warning to any of my current or potential suitors. I love you all, I do – but I’m not sure if you’ll get me in the end… because I am not sure about what I’m feeling, I can’t be. I have a son. I have to be very, very careful with my heart. [...]

The Rebound Year

July 25, 2008

After I left my ex-husband I wanted a new one. Immediately. I had been craving intimacy with him for two years and I was finally free to find it…with anyone. I was so blinded by my own desperation that I would check every man’s left ring finger… no matter who they were. I just wanted [...]

The oddest day.

July 22, 2008

You know those days when everything is off by a centimeter or an inch or a nanosecond. Today was one of those days. All clouded by the letter I wrote last night and then the dream that followed. 1. The dream. I was in love with Britney Spears’ brother. She doesn’t have a brother though. [...]

The man in the kitchen.

July 20, 2008

My ex-husband has a little problem. He won’t let his girlfriend’s 7-year-old son call him Dad. As a result, our son, who he has for just 36 hours a week is now calling him by his first name too. He’s mimicking his psuedo step-brother. So what’s a jerky ex-husband to do? “Why don’t you just let [...]

Baggage check: I won’t let myself fall in love.

July 12, 2008

I left my phone charger in California. And after one day with no interruptions and no friends to run my emotions by … I realized how nice it is to be disconnected. So I didn’t buy a new one. Now it’s been five days of phone free bliss and a lot of time to reflect. [...]
