Well, its been 17 years since I started dating a single mom, she had 2 daughters 5,2. It was a challenge at first, but now married 15 years and a third daughter later, it was well worth it.

Great blog, keep up the good work!

I think the video is cool in that it disparages the myth many soon-to-be single moms face, thinking that now they will be guy-repellent. I always like to point out more how it seems the single moms I know are finding love, while the childless single women I know still struggle with it.

Why is this? I think part of it is that single moms come a little more down to Earth with their selection standards in men. Doesn't mean they'll settle for less, but they suddenly don't put so much priority on the wrong things. Now it's not the most important that he be 6' tall, athletic, and making a big salary. They more want cute, charming, easy going, and stable.

Granted there are single moms and single dads who have the lives full of drama and instability, but it's not as much as many want to think. Again, I think it's great the "stigma" is really a myth.

If it were true, we wouldn't have the term "MILF"

So what about the guys like the one who posted this blog, and the guys who replied? I don’t think men want to date single mothers. They might say they do, but they don’t.

Hi Single Mama,

For every guy who says he would never date a single mom there are ten behind him who will – trust me. When it’s the right guy your single mom status doesn’t matter – he will love you, for you and your children in the same way. And to counter that article here is a great one on a Yahoo Personals Survey of Men on Dating Single Moms:,,9723,00.html

And please don’t believe what jerks like those guys say about us – obviously they don’t know what they are talking about.
