Myrtle Beach

by mssinglemama on July 2, 2012

After our flight, and after they’ve examined every inch of the suite, the kids are bursting with excitement to get down to the ocean. Seth takes them right away and I dive into the big, cozy bed. A few minutes later, I am sound asleep. The ocean right there. Loud, intrusive and extremely humbling. Nature’s trump card soothing me to sleep.

I have officially settled into being pampered constantly. I get to sleep in on most mornings while he makes breakfast. The garbage is out every week without me even thinking about it. The kids are occupied when I need to write. Or in this case, when I need to sleep and re-charge. The list goes on and on and on.

I am so pampered, in fact, that I often wonder if I am going to turn into an ungrateful wife, spoiled beyond repair. Quite a problem to have, I know.

They return from the beach and wake me up a few hours later so I can head to the grocery. The suite, courtesy of the all inclusive Island Vista Resort, has three bedrooms, a washer-dryer and a full kitchen. It means major savings all week because Seth and I can cook.

When I get back we have some dinner on the balcony.

Would you like a view with your steak?

After dinner we head back out to the beach for a few last minutes of ocean.

This is what it’s all about.

I even get in.

The next day it starts raining and doesn’t stop.

We occupy ourselves with the indoor pool/waterpark at the Island Vistia (aka, child crack) and then dinner at Medieval Times. I take this picture and the princess is a bit freaked because I am clearly trying to cheat the system.

We buy the photograph to make amends. That is the expression my face makes when I am doing something illegal, bad or mischievous.

But that’s okay because Medieval Times is quite possibly the most exciting and entertaining dinner we’ve ever had.

Maybe it was the ocean or the constant stream of fun, even in the rain, but the kids got along perfectly the entire time. I think we only had two or three Gremlin moments.

Special thanks to Vision Airlines (now offering direct flights from Columbus to Myrtle Beach), Island Vista Resort and Medieval Times in Myrtle Beach.

PS.

The power outage threw us for a loop this weekend. Back on now, but I still don’t have Internet at home. That means you have more time to enter for my three vintage finds in this blog post.
