by mssinglemama on May 8, 2009

And now… your Mother’s Day Zen (in lieu of our Single Mom Friday Zen) Contest:

Second Spring by Dr. Maoshing Ni

And I have two of these awesome games from Single Edition left.

Mother’s Day is weird for me because, aside from my first, I’ve been single. Typically it’s just like any other day. Can’t wait until Benjamin is old enough to make me breakfast in bed.

Mother’s Day SIDE NOTES: If you’re looking for new Mom blogs check out this awesome collection of mommy blogs at So honored to be on that list. And your necklace, THE necklace, is en route. I had it specially designed just for us and you are going to freak out when you see it but I’m waiting to reveal it and announce the winner until I have it in my hands.

Happy Mother's Day!

It's going to be my first since separating from my husband, so it's going to be with mixed feelings. This week I wrote a blog post about being out with my two daughters shopping:

Erin May 8, 2009 at 2:03 pm

That poem was absolutely stunning. Happy Mother's Day Alaina and all the other moms out there. You are all amazing!

Hello Fast CheetahsAs you know I have been sick but not too sick to work on a project with my mum. We have wrttien a poem which is also a riddle. If you can work it out, you will know what we have been doing. You may think that you are fast,But in a race with me you would never last. Some people say I have spots,And some people say I have dots.I may be yellow,But you would never call me mellow!Who am I?See you very soon, Ella and her mum

littlemansmom May 8, 2009 at 2:12 pm

This will be the last that littlebigman and I will celebrate just the two of us….and you know, we're ok with that. We'll make it special and have LOTS of mommie and me time. He knows he's #1 in my heart and we'll always make time of mommie and me time….Next years mothers day will be the start of a new tradition…..

Tina May 8, 2009 at 2:49 pm

I'll be thinking of the Logelin's this Sunday as well. Thank you for introducing his blog to me. It is life-changing to read.

Valerie May 8, 2009 at 3:20 pm

I posted links to some great deals for this weekend for Mother’s Day on Feel Good, Columbus. One is local only, but the rest are national.

You totally deserve to be on that Mom Blogger list. Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to you! Hope you and Benjamin have a great day !

P.S. I can't wait to see the necklace (and I may or may not be secretly hoping that I won)

Lindsey May 8, 2009 at 4:54 pm

I hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day Sunday! Your son, Benjamin, is a very lucky little boy to have such a loving mama like yourself!

Thanks for all the great blog/Twitter posts! 🙂

Trish May 8, 2009 at 5:18 pm

This is going to be my first Mother's Day, ever. As a single mom, it is certainly not going to be as I had always imagined it would be. But I know things are going to be okay, and I will get through this time of shadows.

Here's a Happy Mother's Day to all you other first time moms!

(By the way, I love your blog)

Candy May 8, 2009 at 5:20 pm

This will be my 3rd Mother's Day single and I'm sure it will be great. My 9 year old son always thinks of me and get's his Granddad to help him when needed. Just being with him makes every day Mother's Day. OK, mushy. But I do think I could use those books. I actually have the Dating Topics cards already though. Now I just need a chance to use them!

This is my 1st Mother's Day as a single mama:) But believe me, no sadness here – I have the one little man in my life that makes everything shine like the sun:) Happy Mother's day from one single mama to another:)!!

Hope May 8, 2009 at 7:19 pm

2luvs4nj May 8, 2009 at 8:16 pm

this is my 4th Mother's Day being a single Momma – I feel stronger as each one passes, it's amazing what we are all capable of! Happy Mother's Day everyone!

Mocha Dad May 8, 2009 at 8:20 pm

Beautiful poem.

christine May 8, 2009 at 8:33 pm

i couldnt make it through the poem without crying.

this is my first mother's day alone and i am having a hard time with it. but none of my mother's days have been very good, so i am looking forward to feeling happier about this time next year.

Anna May 8, 2009 at 9:10 pm

Fantastic poem.
My ex chose last May 16th to start this long journey, so this is a rough month for me (our anniversary also would have been on the 23rd). I am so thankful my own mother ingrained independence into my upbringing. I would not have had the fortitude to be thriving today without her insistence on that value. Thanks, Mom!

Lori May 9, 2009 at 12:16 am

Happy Mother's Day to you! Someday Benjamin will realize all that you have done and do for him and will celebrate you all year around and especially on Mother's Day!

Janet May 9, 2009 at 1:05 am

The poem was beautful!!

I understand what you mean about Mother's Day being weird. I feel very happy to be a mom but sad that I don't have another adult to share it with. Something to look forward to in the future, though!

Hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day with your little guy!! 🙂

amy May 9, 2009 at 2:18 am

Just wait till your son is in school. You will get the most AMAZING handmade gifts 🙂

Interessanter Artikel.

Hope you have a great mothers day this sunday if I dont get a chance to log on then.
What a wonderful and heartrending poem. and nice of you to share it.
I love my mother so dearly and dread the day I will no longer have her near.
Thank you for introducing us to Maddie and Matt I hope he has a great 'mothers' day also.

Such a beautiful poem – my mum is still here but she has been very ill with Breast Cancer and the thought of being without her scares me more than I can say…..

We celebrate Mothers Day in March here in the UK – my boys being that bit older (15 & 10) made me breakfast in bed & got me a sweet little gift. They did leave the kitchen in a hideous state while making the breakfast – but oh well! I appreciated the efforts they made all the same 🙂

I hope all of you single mamas out there have a lovely day x

karen May 10, 2009 at 3:36 pm

That was beautiful. I got the best gift this morning. I woke up to find 7yr old playing her room. "Oh mommy you can sleep more" Yeah, that was great. Plus the fact since Thursday she has been saying "Are you sure you can wait till Sunday for your gift?"
Happy Mothers Day!

Melissa May 11, 2009 at 5:53 pm
