The oddest day.

July 22, 2008

You know those days when everything is off by a centimeter or an inch or a nanosecond. Today was one of those days. All clouded by the letter I wrote last night and then the dream that followed. 1. The dream. I was in love with Britney Spears’ brother. She doesn’t have a brother though. [...]

A letter to my future husband.

July 21, 2008

This could be a letter to no body. To the air. To the moon. To whoever is listening. Because I may never get married again. But I just felt like writing a love letter to somebody … so why not him? He who is a distant figment of my imagination but maybe if I start [...]

The Best of the Single Parent Blogosphere

July 21, 2008

Better late than never. You know the drill, but if not… Because we’re single parents and we don’t have time to read a million blogs every week I use this post every week to highlight my favorites and let you highlight yours … DON’T BE SHY. Shameless self-promotion is strongly encouraged. My personal favorites this [...]

Single Mom S.O.S.: Play-Doh & Toddler-Goo

July 20, 2008

Okay, this one is for me. Three questions mixed with some babbling. 1. How do you clean up Play-Doh? 2. What are some good Play-Doh games or activities? (We had a Play-Doh cook off, but tomorrow he’ll want a new game.) 3. How do you keep them contained in one area? (Not necessarily the kids [...]

The man in the kitchen.

July 20, 2008

My ex-husband has a little problem. He won’t let his girlfriend’s 7-year-old son call him Dad. As a result, our son, who he has for just 36 hours a week is now calling him by his first name too. He’s mimicking his psuedo step-brother. So what’s a jerky ex-husband to do? “Why don’t you just let [...]

Must Love Kids: Tracy Paye Interview

July 18, 2008

I still haven’t seen the new Must Love Kids show on TLC … my neighbor is recording it for me, so this weekend I’ll catch it. Just had to pass this interview on in the meantime. Single mom, Tracy Paye is fantastic.

Dating Single Mom

So what do you think about the forthcoming controversy Tracy expects as a fall out for introducing her 6-year-old daughter to the men on the show? I don’t want to say anything until I’ve seen the show but I do know that I love Tracy’s attitude – just another amazing single mom!

Single moms are on fire.

July 16, 2008

Single moms are hot, hot, hot. Yep. We are trendy. It’s official. This fact was pointed out to me in my first piece of hate mail from a YouTube viewer, one of nearly 500 who have already watched Morgan and I’s “Dating & Single Moms” video. With so many views, and there will be more, [...]

How to Date a Single Mom, Part 4

July 15, 2008

Nothing like the clarity of a 24-year-old’s mind to make you feel like a goof for psycho-analyzing yourself. So I have two more tips to add to my list on How to Date a Single Mom.. Guess what? We have baggage. But you don’t have to tell us that. Help us figure it out and you’ll be way ahead of the game.

Two hats and two worms (well, kind of).

July 14, 2008

The poor little worm didn’t have a chance. It was my fault. “Benjamin, look! Look! It’s a worm!”  “Yay!!! Ha ha ha ha!!” He’s jumping up and down with excitement. The worm was being eaten alive by ants and was clearly on his way to a slow, excruciating death anyway. I try to stifle a [...]

Baggage check: I won’t let myself fall in love.

July 12, 2008

I left my phone charger in California. And after one day with no interruptions and no friends to run my emotions by … I realized how nice it is to be disconnected. So I didn’t buy a new one. Now it’s been five days of phone free bliss and a lot of time to reflect. [...]
