OK, it doesn't work as well as the first-prize flat iron Ms. Single Mama tempted us with, but here goes: once your hair is almost dry, put the styling brush down and lock a section of hair between the fingers of one hand. Make sure your fingers have truly grabbed a piece of hair--I usually use the index and third fingers. You can curl your fingers for better grip if you wish and hold from underneath the hair or above it. Usually, if you grab from above, the fingers are curled; below, hold them straight. Now pull on that hair until it is taut (and straight). Aim the hair dryer at the hair section for at least 10 seconds. Gradually slide your fingers down the hair until the hair is released, but hold it taut all the way down and keeping aiming the dryer there. Do this all over your head. My hair puffs and this gives me a much sleeker look. So there you go! It's the "finger flat iron."

The Poor Woman’s Flat Iron. . .is my tip and I’ve been doing it for years. Let me say up front that at the age of 93, she had beautiful skin. She used raw honey as a facial mask three times a week. I thought she was nuts until I did a little research and realized how many amazing properties honey has. Apparently the best kind to use for this is raw unpasteurized honey, so of course moms with infants will have to be careful not to have their faces licked while trying this. :-) It also works, I found out, for guys who have razor-sensitive skin ... cuts down on irritation.

Believe it or not, I have a weird one that my grandmother used to talk about all the time.
