Aside from the ending, I wasn't disappointed at all! I just couldn't understand why she settled for a man who always hurt her in the end.

This is funny! The Daily Show's review of Sex and the City...

http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=170290&title=sex-and-the-city

I rest my case.

Did anyone else notice Big's waxed chest ... I checked, it used to be hairy. So, Valerie - great point and me too - I was sad.

Took me 48 hours to figure it out ... but it was because there were no "fabulous" single moments - not one, in the entire movie. They were all completely consumed by men - in one shape or another - the entire time. . Carrie (the anchor, our heroine) was completely consumed in what people thought of her, what she was wearing ... etc - to the point where it drove Big away (or not).

I don't want to give anything away. Maybe in a few months...I'll come back to this post and spill my guts.

Until then - watch that Daily Show Clip....please, wait until it gets to the male version of Sex and the City.

The movie was good, but I was sad after watching it for some reason. It seemed less real than the show. More glossed over. I wanted to learn more lessons for my life right now. The things I related to in the middle of the movie weren't relevant in the end. I also ran into my ex after the movie which didn't help.

Ah, that is disappointing. I just recently started getting into the show and I was hoping the movie would be the show, only longer. Oh well.

P.S. And for the record, I'm 41 years old. The reason I loved SATC was b/c it was a story about women MY age, the women that went together yesterday to see it w/ me ranged in age from 25 to 56. So, clearly those four female characters have touched a LOT of women!

Hi there! Thanks for 2 things; 1) for commenting on my blog b/c it brought me to YOURS and 2) for your honest review of the movie.

I went to see it last night with twelve women friends. Afterwards, we all went out to dinner to laugh, drink, and share our thoughts about the movie, the show that came before, the clothes, etc.

And even though I didn't say it to those gals last night, I'm grateful as hell for your review here. I liked the movie. It was fun, silly & even had some spectacular moments of "triumph"... but it wasn't half as smart IMO as the show was. Whew, I'm glad I said that out loud.

Cheers & big Single Mom Hugs backatcha,

Cheryl

I have to say that I LOVED it! I found it gave inspiration and reminded us that we CAN put ourselves first and still be able to have a man in our lives if we choose. It reminded us to remember the strength and importance of friendship. It grew appropriatley with the ages of the women. Finally, I found that I could identify, personally, with some of the situations, something that was strangely comforting. Almost like it was a justification and realization that I'm not the only one....hmmmmm....

This is the first non-glowing review of this movie that I've seen! I'm still excited to see it, I'll enjoy it even if it isn't as great as I've heard it is.

After reading Mommy Pie's comment, I wonder if you and I will have similar opinions of the movie since we are the same age...
