There is no conclusive evidence that links these two together and postponing the shots can be very dangerous to your baby's health since he/she only has the antibodies that your body has created and in order for him/her to fight off the illness he needs the proper antibodies that the immunization shots provide.

I read your comment that you should postpone immunization shots until the baby is one year old because it has been linked to autism. I thank God every day that my mother had the sense enough to become a single mom...it was better than having a father around who drank to much and threatened her with violence...there are many important life lessons that you are going to be able to teach him, because you are a single mom...don't feel guilty, stand up and be proud!!

Don’t feel guilty for being a single mom. He would reluctantly prescribe antibiotics only if really begged -- when it came to ear infections at least. (I don't know his antibiotic stance on other nasty germs...)
My older son has had 2 ear infections (he's almost 4) and my 2 year old has only had one. Between the three ear infections we've only gotten the antibiotics once. Tylenol was what really helped...
Oh, and on the immunizations linked to autism issue (I know we shouldn't even get in to it!) -- This same doctor, really into homeopathic remedies, was big into immunizations. The one ingredient that may or may not have links to autism is NO LONGER used in vaccinations. I felt like he wasn’t pushing vaccinations just to push them (since he would hardly prescribe antibiotics!) and felt completely safe giving them to my children. I might be, however, wise to spread some of them out. There are some visits where they could get 4 shots in their tiny little bodies. But like you said, a debate for another time...

I was lucky enough to have a doctor back in RI (where we just moved from) that was a big believer in homeopathic remedies. He is still sick today...but the ear aches have essentially stopped the drops definitely made all of the difference.
Good luck at that appointment Lauren! Try to post pone the immunization shots if you can. I waited until Benjamin was one year old ... they can lower her immunity and also have been linked to autism. But that's an entirely new post right there...

Single Working Mommy – I found our drops at CVS actually…they’re made by Similasan. But like I said, he still gets ear infections from time to time, so I'm curious about these natural remedies. I wonder if it would work to give him those instead of the steroid ear drops when the gunk starts coming out. Something to think about.

Son has tubes. I had SO MANY ear infections when I was little. I had some ear drops, but that's as much as I can remember. I'm pretty sure my parents went with whatever the ped told them. Eventually, I had a tube put in one of my ears... not a fun time!

That reminds me… Anna’s 1 week checkup is today. He had tubes in I think she said...I was always sick when I was a kid until I got on some natural herbs(not herb) and medicines which boosted me up to the point where I haven't had a signifigant illness in years. The doctor isn't always the answer, but these days there are so many weird viruses and illnesses floating around that you never know. Parenthood is like a minefield, I swear. I don't know how you do it alone sometimes. Way to go on your research and being proactive.

My girl’s little guy is constantly suffering from ear infections.
