Must-see movie: "Pay it Forward" with Kevin Spacey and Helen Hunt. Great single mama movie, great message overall, and a real feel-good movie...although you'll need to have tissues for the ending. I'd seen it before and forgot the ending...boohooed the second time as much as (or more) than the first. Still loved it though! Thanks for the great film tip!! In the genre of single parent films, I really liked The Pursuit of Happyness. I watched it on DVD not long into my single parent-ness and cried.
